Printhead major Kyocera reports record sales revenue

Kyocera reported that over the last nine-month period was characterised by slowing economic growth rates amid an uncertain global situation, continuing inflation, rising global interest rates and a sharp depreciation in the Japanese yen. Concerning the company’s major revenue sources, the period brought continued robust demand in semiconductor-related markets. In addition, two one-time costs totalling approximately 10 billion yen were recorded during the nine months, namely, the litigation cost in the amount of approximately 7 billion yen recorded during the three months ended September 30, 2022.

As a result, operating profit decreased by 4,574 million yen, or 3.9 percent, to 113,884 million yen, profit before income taxes decreased by 347 million yen, or 0.2 percent, to 162,756 million yen, and profit attributable to owners of the parent decreased by 1,050 million yen, or 0.9 percent, to 118,783 million yen, as compared with the previous nine months. Kyocera is a world-leading supplier of ceramic 1200dpi printheads which many OEMs use in popular printers.
