Spencer’s Retail plans for large-format outlets

Spencer’s Retail, part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, is planning launch larger-format stores like hyper and supermarkets as its growth driver. Sources from the company indicate the move towards larger format is aimed at improving store profitability by focusing on higher margin offerings in the non-food category. Of the 121 existing outlets of the company, 37 are hypermarkets and the balance are super and small format ones stores. The 38th hypermarket has been inaugurated in Chennai, which marked the company’s second in the city. Signage firms must alert to tap such fresh business opportunities constantly emerging in the retail domain.
