The desire to customise working and living spaces is a powerful driver that spells a wide-ranging need for decorative printing in several key applications including ceramic tile, glass, textile, sign & display, laminates, functional, flooring, and wall covering. Study by InfoTrends, PROFITING THROUGH DIGITAL PRINTING IN THE DÉCOR MARKETPLACE, is part of a series of research projects that over time will cover the main methods and applications using digital technologies for industrial decorative printing. In this study, a series of in-depth interviews and surveys allows InfoTrends to examine the sentiment of the architect & interior design community and quantify the opportunity for printing industry suppliers such as equipment, software and materials manufacturers.
Some key findings from this study include: Many A&D Companies are aware of digital decorative printing, and are becoming aware of the benefits it can bring in the design of customised for public and personal use; Décor material producers gravitate to digital printing in order to offer high value added customized solutions and improve production efficiency; Successful producers have reengineered their manufacturing processes to meet changing customer demand for mass customized products; and Key barriers for adoption remain capital investment needed for a large scale operation transitioning from conventional to digital manufacturing platforms.
