Brother has reached a milestone in recycling—40 million toner cartridges remanufactured or recycled globally since the programme began in Europe in 2004. The process reached from Brother’s global Recycling Technology Centre in Wales to its headquarters in Nagoya, Japan. Globally, customers can return empty cartridges to one of Brother’s four remanufacturing facilities in Wales, Slovakia the USA or Asia.
Each Brother cartridge goes through a stringent checking process, with components either reused or replaced, meaning the majority of cartridges can be remanufactured and resold, as good as new. Any parts that can’t be reused are recycled by Brother, ensuring that absolutely nothing goes to landfill. Brother’s European remanufacturing facilities were also recently both awarded carbon neutral status and the collection scheme has been zero waste to landfill accredited since 2013. Customers can return Brother cartridges free of charge via their website.
