Tesco plans to open first store in India

British retail giant Tesco is planning to open its first cash-and-carry store in India by the end of this year in India. Tata Group firm Trent is the joint venture partner of Tesco for the cash-and-carry business. Tesco’s local management team is helping the franchise partner, Trent, to develop its Star Bazaar hypermarket operation. Plans for company’s wholesale business are also on track with first cash and carry store expected to open towards the end of 2010. Tesco’s cash-and-carry store in India a significant sign of new business opportunity for the signage players, such as in-store signage companies, print providers, sign suppliers, etc.
