Gujarat-based Bhumika and Shyamal Sisodhan are looking to raise Rs 50-100 crore from private-equity firms as the couture designers prepare to commercially launch a low-cost ready-to-wear label that they have been test-marketing for some time. The creators of the Shyamal & Bhumika brand first showcased the pret line – named ‘S&B’ – during the Lakme Fashion Week in last August. Further, the designer couple wants funds to set up exclusive S&B outlets, which would be of 750-2,500 sq ft size. Sisodhan said they are in talks with some leading PE firms of India, which have approached the designers to launch their ready-to-wear stores. Such big move of the designer duo will be a fresh business opportunity for the signage companies whose activities revolve around branding, in-shop deco, designs and others.
