Nekoosa has announced the expansion of its NextBond UV-cured, outdoor durable specialty print media portfolio, with the addition of High-Bond Opaque. This new wide-format printable film is designed to adhere securely to challenging application surfaces, deliver full block-out coverage without gray adhesive, and withstand extreme environmental conditions, including cold-weather installation as low as -10°F. NextBond High-Bond Opaque features a double layer of Nekoosa’s exclusive NextBond UV-cured adhesive, engineered to form a strong, long-lasting bond to rough, porous, and low surface energy materials like concrete, brick, plywood, and plastics.
The dual-layer adhesive construction also contributes to the film’s overall opacity. While many block-out solutions rely on gray adhesive filled with pigments, which can weaken the adhesive bond and leave residue on surfaces, NextBond uses a clear, non-contaminating adhesive. Combined with a custom face stock enhanced with UV inhibitors and rated at <99.5% opacity, NextBond High-Bond Opaque fully conceals underlying graphics without ghosting or show-through. Launched in May 2024, NextBond is Nekoosa’s proprietary UV-cured adhesive platform, developed as a robust, cost-effective, and eco-conscious alternative to traditional solvent-based adhesives.
