Japanese retail giant Uniqlo on has planned to open up to 1,000 stores in India in the coming years to tap into the growing consumption story and announced a strategy to source garments from the country. Uniqlo chairman and CEO Tadashi Yanai, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other ministers, disclosed the plan to open stores during these interactions. Uniqlo, which started as a chain of suburban roadside stores in Japan, is targeting close to 1,500 stores across the globe by the end of August. Currently, it has 632 stores outside Japan and moved into malls a decade ago. Such a big expansion move of the Japanese company will bring in a fresh business opportunity for the signage companies whose activities are exclusively include in-shop branding, displays, designs and related tasks.
