To promote new age photography through its printing technology, Hewlett-Packard, the leader in the imaging and printing space, has partnered with model, actor and photographer Parvin Dabas to unveil his series of underwater photographs printed on HP’s new range of large format printers for graphics art market. The HP printers will help create long lasting prints with vivid colour combinations, rich colour, razorsharp detail, accurate skin tones and extraordinary textures. As per Puneet Chadha, country manager – commercial sales, Imaging & Printing Group, HP India Sales Pvt Ltd, “According to recent IDC results, HP is the leader in the large format market in India, with a market share of 74%.”
The partnership could be seen at ‘Under Over,’ Parvin Dabas’ second underwater exhibition, showcasing the images shot by Parvin in Philippines. A well-known actor by profession (acted in films like Monsoon Wedding, Maine Gandhi ko nahin maara and Khosla ka ghosla), Parvin has been gaining recognition as a photographer and has recently won a place in International Photography Awards 2006 in the underwater category, non-professional section.
According to Dhirendra Khurana, country category manager, large format printers, Imaging & Business Group, HP India Sales Pvt Ltd, “HP leads the industry in developing printing and imaging solutions for customers’ needs of staying competitive, highlighting creative uniqueness and establishing a digital difference. The newly launched cutting edge range of large format printers will take photo printing to the next level. Our partnership with Parvin spells the premium that HP brings to the table.”
As per Parvin Dabas, “Capturing the right hues is critical in underwater photography. This challenge was brilliantly bridged by HP’s printing technology solutions which brought alive my photography. HP’s large format printers provide superior technology that has inspired confidence in me to select HP as my preferred and trusted partner, in my photographic pursuits.”
As the graphic arts industry shifts its technology base from analogue to digital, HP is best positioned to help customers in marketing, publishing, commercial and industrial printing segments develop and expand their printing portfolio. Some of their famous photographic printers include HP Designjet Z2100 and HP Designjet Z3100 photo printers series. The Z2100 series is ideal for graphic designers, prepress/proofing specialists and social wedding photographers who need to deliver high-quality, breakthrough colour on large-format prints and proofs. This 8-inks printer achieves consistent and accurate colour with the industry’s first built-in spectrophotometer in a printer of this class.
The Z3100 series is suited for professional photographers, graphic designers and digital fine artists. In addition to perfecting high quality colour printouts, this 12-ink printing system is perfect for black & white prints with the advantages available with the HP Quad-black Vivera pigment inks system.
Restructuring at HP’s large format printers section
In order to serve the customers better and to handle the ever-increasing range of HP printers, a restructuring has been done in their large format printer section. Yariv Avisar is heading the LFP Asia region. This is further divided into the Technical + Creative and the PSP segment. In India the large format team would be a part of the commercial IPG team with PSP segment (headed by Pankaj Goswami) and Technical + Creative (headed by Dhirendra Khurana). The PSP segment includes Scitex and Designjets eco-solvent printers (Designjet 8000, 9000, 10000). The Technical + Creative segment includes technical printers (LFPs targeted at CAD & GIS segment- 100,500, 800,1000 and 4000 series) and the graphic arts (like Designjet 5500, Designjet 130nr and Z-series of photoprinters).
