Apsom Technologies introduces Mimaki’s JV33 and DS series

Mumbai-based Apsom Technologies (I) Pvt Ltd, leading suppliers of the wide-format inkjet printers and integrated printers/cutters, recently introduced JV33 and DS series printers from Mimaki Engineering Co, Japan.

Recently introduced JV33 series is an affordable, high performance, multifunction solvent inkjet printer. It has increased print speed and various enhancements to bring out a high quality print of 1,440 dpi. Its newly developed high-speed printhead contains 180 nozzles x 8 lines. In addition, the improved running efficiency has also improved the print speed by 30% over the JV3 series.

Its automatic ink cartridge switching allows for longer print runs UISS (uninterrupted ink supply system). A maximum of 880cc ink per colour can be loaded at one time. With it, a 50m roll of media can be printed without interruption. Four types of inks, which are available; including aqueous inks, are SS21 ink; ES3 ink; pigment ink; and dye sublimation ink.

The two solvent inks feature high scratch resistance, density, and safety with wide colour gamut. One can also select aqueous pigment ink or dye sublimation ink at the time of installation. It can print simultaneously, using 6 colour and white ink. Printing with white ink onto transparent or opaque substrates creates vivid full colour graphics.

Whereas triple stage intelligent heater automatically heats up the media to the appropriate temperature, thus improving the performance of ink. A newly mounted post-heater quickens drying time and thus enables a fast take-up of the media. And by producing dots in three different sizes, smooth high-resolution graphics are created without a grainy appearance. Even at high speed and in low-resolution mode, high quality printing is possible.

Whereas DS series, a high-resolution system, is more eco-friendly and efficient in operation as compared to traditional textile printing system. The high-speed 8 printheads employ array of two staggered printheads, one-way (single ink set) for fast printing and two-way (dual ink set) for multi-purpose printing are available. In addition, both print modes can use either high-speed print. At 720 dpi x 720 dpi, in 8 passes, a printing speed of 12 m2 can be achieved.

In addition to the drive roller and friction roller, it is equipped with the automatic take-up unit and feeding unit with a dancer roller that cause tension in the fabric to prevent it from wrinkling. This also enables uninterrupted and continuous printing in which the tension bar moves up and down to adjust proper feeding of the fabric. The fabric retainer holds both edges of the fabric, preventing it from touching the printhead. With this exceptional feature, a wide range of fabrics can be printed (excluding knitted fabrics and stretchable fabrics). A ditch is available, in order to prevent ink from transferring or marking other portion of fabric while printing.

DS Series has now eliminated the excess time and cost involved in printing on transfer papers and then through heat transfer mechanism transferring it on the final fabric. Now, one can directly print on the pre-treated fabric, and post treat it with any heat setter machine.

DS series will be demonstrated live at: FESPA World Expo India (Stall no 9/B3, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 7 – 9 Dec, 2007) and later at GTE ’08 (Garment Technology Expo) (Stall no A-21C, NSIC Exhibition Centre, New Delhi from 18 – 21 January 2008).
