Apple wants to open own stores in India

Apple Inc, maker of iPhones and iPads, requests the government to relax the local sourcing clause in its policy on foreign direct investment (FDI) in single-brand retail. The company’s senior management executives recently met officials in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), which governs the country’s FDI policy, and sought an exception to be made for the technology giant. The official added that the company was “keen to invest in India by opening its own stores to meet demand for its products rising every year. Such move of the company would bring in a fresh business to the signage players whose activities involve in in-shop displays, designs and other related activities.
