Pioneer Polyleathers makes a breakthrough in the signage industry by introducing indigenously made flex, first time ever in India. Vijai Kapur, managing director, Pioneer Polyleathers shares his views with Sign & Graphics on the launch of Pioneer Flex during Sign Today (March 28-30, 2008, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi) event.
Pioneer Polyleathers Pvt Ltd brings together the unmatched experience and expertise of India’s most reputed business barons–Raj Kumar Gupta (Action Group) and Vijai Kapur (Pioneer Group). The Action Group is a known business conglomerate with diversified businesses which include footwear (Action), real estate (Suncity), invertors (Microteck), 400- bedded Balaji Action hospital in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, etc. “Our family association with Gupta’s for long has helped us in understanding the business better. And when we were planning our new project, we joined hands together for best use of available resources and complementing each other’s strength,” said Kapur.
Being one of the biggest manufacturers of DOP, dominant plasticizer used in PVC, Raj Kumar Gupta got the opportunity to better understand signage and advertising industry. This led to the genesis of Pioneer Flex, “Before establishment, we always wondered why nobody in India initiated flex manufacturing. This market is booming with 25-30% annual growth and is worth around Rs 500-600 crore. Our products will surely take the market by storm. Being based in India, we’ll provide the best after sales support and assistance to our clients. This will consequently affect the Korean and Chinese markets in India, as our products would have an added advantage of local presence. Moreover, quality standards are also no less, than any international brands,” Kapur explained.
The manufacturing facility, established by Pioneer Polyleathers spread across 15 acres of land in Rudrapur, Uttranchal, is a masterpiece reflecting the highest standards of planning and construction coupled with latest machines and technologies. To start with, they have installed two lines of flex manufacturing, one from Korea and the other is from Taiwan. Their pioneering spirit has brought Pioneer Flex made with unique coated laminated fabric production techniques and this state-of-the-art plant. This is a well-thought move, as they wanted to deliver both Chinese and Korean finish products in India.
According to him, although Chinese flex has above 90% market share in India and Korean flex with just 5-7%, but Pioneer is set to launch its products to compete with quality standard. “We have already prepared ourselves to contend with these two major supplier groups and also envisaged to venture into international markets as well. We will also introduce tarpaulin, which is extensively used in Europe and US for truck advertising,” Kapur mentioned. To start with, Pioneer flex shall be available in popular grammages i.e. 300 and 330. Eventually, they have plans to manufacture 400, 440 gsm flex, backlit banner and other products which shall cover entire gamut of signage industry. As per Kapur, “We should be running to our 100% capacity by the end of this year as I see good growth, in market size which seems favourable for us”.
Besides assuring high quality products at competitive prices, Pioneer shall offer the best technical and commercial support for all signage flex needs. They strongly believe in customeroriented approach, which will enable them to deliver customer delight. Being based in India, they have the opportunity of direct contact with customers and can get first hand feedback also.
“We continuously strive to offer superior value proposition to our customers and partners on quality-cost-delivery and seek to build enduring relationship,” said Kapur on a concluding note.
