IKEA to open India’s first City Store in Mumbai

IKEA is set open India’s first City Store in Mumbai’s Worli area. The Swedish furnishing retailer already has a large-format store in Navi Mumbai, which opened last year. IKEA’s new store in Kamala Mills is designed for smaller spaces, measuring in at around 50,000 – 1,00,000 sq ft, as opposed to the traditional blue box stores, which are typically 4,00,000 – 5,00,000 sq ft.  In line with IKEA’s long-term commitment to Maharashtra and India, the Worli store will be the first of its kind in India, following cities such as Paris, Moscow and Shanghai. Opening of such flagship stores by MNCs like IKEA will be a fresh business opportunity for the signage companies which engaged in in-store branding, graphics and such activities.
