Footwear major Skechers to double store count in India

Skechers, one of the leading American footwear companies, is looking forward to making double the number of stores in India. This year, the company is planning to add 50 stores, taking the count to 100. The company is planning to have a healthy mix of 50:50 own stores and the franchise-owned and going forward, the franchise business would be slightly on the higher side because in a country like India it makes more sense to go through the franchise route, according to a source from the company. The company’s store is typically measured a 100×150 sq ft, entailing an investment of Rs 1.5 cr. Such new development in the retail domain with the gradual opening of high-end retail outlets like that of Skechers, signage players engaging in in-store displays, designs and related activities will gain a new ground for fresh business opportunities.
