EFI acquires MATAN and Italian textile printer manufacturer Reggiani

In one of its biggest expansion moves ever, EFI has acquired Israeli company Matan Digital Printers for $50 million. Based in Rosh HaAyin, Matan has been producing super-wide format printers since its establishment in 1992, employing 70 staff. According to Guy Gecht, CEO, EFI, this landmark acquisition gives them a new vigour to broaden their super wide-format portfolio and a significant presence in Israel. Now, Yoseli has been appointed as vice president and general manager of EFI Inkjet Israel. It has been anticipated that the strong R&D capability of MATAN will further speed up the inkjet innovations of EFI, playing a vital role to fill up a key spot in the latter’s product portfolio of roll-to-roll production printers designed for fleet graphics, billboards and other related applications.

On the other side, EFI’s acquisition of the Italian textile printer manufacturer Reggiani Macchine in a deal worth $188.4 million has stridden them with an accelerated pace into the ever expanding textile printing segment. Bergamo-based Reggiani boasts of a board lineup of industrial inkjet printers equipped with water-based inks for fabric printing. Now, EFI Reggiani (being rebranded after the acquisition) will address the full scope of advanced textile printing, with versatile printers suitable for water-based dispersed, acid, pigment and reactive dye printing inks. For more than 60 years in the industry, Reggiani has been innovator of a full range of industrial solutions for textile manufacturing, including high-quality printers for fashion and home furnishing textiles. Guy Gecht asserts that the addition of Reggiani’s innovative team and their ‘Made in Italy’ textile printing technology will trigger EFI to continue growth in the soft signage arena.
