Cash-and-carry Metro eyes Punjab next

Metro Cash and Carry India, the Indian subsidiary of the German wholesale retailer Metro, plans to enter Punjab next year, with the opening of two distribution centres at an investment of about Rs 240 crore. After Punjab, the retailer, which now has centres in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal, will foray into Tamil Nadu. The retailer opened its second distribution centre in the state and sixth in the country in Hyderabad recently. Arrival of the high-end store in Punjab will offer a new business opportunity for the signage companies, such as PSPs, fabricators, sign suppliers, etc.
